Emotions Can Be Deceiving
We’ve all heard the saying, “If it feels good, it must be right,” but is this really true? There are a lot of things that may feel good to us, but that doesn’t mean they are good for us. In today’s world, the lines between right and wrong have been blurred by a contemporary way of thinking that says everyone has the right to do what they want as long as they’re not hurting anyone. But have we ever really taken the time to think about how our choices affect our own lives in the long run? There was a time in my life when I did things that felt good to my senses. Most of the time I was being emotionally led. There came a day, however, when I realized life was about more than fulfilling certain desires; it became less about me and more about others. That caused me to change. Emotions can be deceiving because they can move us to make bad decisions. However, I want to focus on allowing my feelings to take me to a place of greatness. What about you?

You're right, Taffi. This society becomes more oriented towards "what feels right" everyday. I often remind my 3 kids when they say, "I don't feel like doing that," that "You are in charge of your feelings. They are not in charge of you." Its a message they are not hearing anywhere else.
ReplyDeleteBut I'm wondering how to allow our feelings to take us to a "place of greatness", like you suggest. To me they just seem like something to control, not something with much potential to help us. Can you explain what you mean by that? Thanks. :)
Lately, I have been praying "Lord, help me to let the Holy Spirit lead me." I know I will be alright if the Holy Ghost is my guide, which it should be anyway. I want to become so close to Him, that we will be friends, if I may.
ReplyDeletehey taffi its the new member lesa just joined about words are deciving I do believe that especially all that glitters is not gold and if u listen to a person long enough they will tell on themselves we go thru so much more then men do the weight of the world is on our shoulders to sweet hearts keep your head told the hills that where our help comes from god bless us and never give up. ReplyDeleteI am a living testimony on how what feels good is not always what is good for U. I have done a great deal of things in my past becasue they felt good. It ended me up on a Journey in life, that I should never have gone down. I do my best now to learn from all of these past mistakes. My flesh still kicks up & wants to do what feels good to it, but I am reminded of my past mistakes & for anything that U do there is a consequence for it; Good or Bad! So I stay in my Word & I let the Holy Ghost lead ME into every TRUTH of HIS Word. Thanks Taffie for the Blogs. Helps keep things in proper perspective.
